Gadsden State’s Griffin named ACCC Player of the Week

Gadsden, Ala. —  The Alabama Community College Conference announced on Oct. 2 that the Player of the Week in cross country is Lane Griffin from Gadsden State Community College.

Griffin finished 13th out of 42 runners in the Mountainside Stride held Sept. 30 in Chattanooga. His 8K time was 27:56, which was a full minute improvement from the previous race on Sept. 15.

“Lane has a remarkable talent for distance running,” said Roseanne Green, Gadsden State’s cross country coach. “His talent combined with his dedication to the sport and leadership skills make him a natural team leader.”

Griffin, who graduated from Fort Payne High School, was Gadsden State’s No. 1 finisher in the Mountainside Stride. Ashton Vann, the College’s No. 2 finisher, came in 21st with a 29:49 followed by Jonah Medders rounding out the Top 3 among Gadsden State runners at 32nd with a 33:02.
