Gadsden State Skills Training Division grant recipient
Gadsden, Ala. – The Alabama Department of Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention is joining local and state leaders to present a check in the amount of $2,028,600 to local grantee organizations in Alabama’s Fourth Congressional District. The Skills Training Division at Gadsden State Community College is one of those grant recipients. The check presentation will be Feb. 15 at 10 a.m. in the Alabama State House in Montgomery.
The Department of Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention, also known as the Children’s Trust Fund, provides annual funding to programs across the state dedicated to the prevention of child abuse and neglect.
“The Department looks forward each year to participating in our annual district check presentations,” said Sallye Longshore, director of the Alabama Department of Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention. “These community-based entities implement evidence-based programs to strengthen families and prevent child abuse and neglect in Alabama.”
Baisha Woody, director of the Skills Training Division at Gadsden State, said the division partners with the Children’s Trust Fund to offer programs funded through the Strengthening Families through Workforce Development Fatherhood Initiative grant.
“The Skills Training Division offers programs that can upgrade skills to develop better-trained employees,” Woody said. “It also serves as a good resource for entry-level hiring needs of local business and industry.”
