Gadsden State Cardinals Basketball Night Feb. 5 

Gadsden, Ala.— Gadsden State Community College’s Athletic Department will host a night of free attendance for first responders Feb. 5.   First responders are invited to watch the Cardinals as they face the Warhawks of Calhoun Community College. Attendees must show their work credentials for free admission. Family members are included.  The Lady Cardinals start the night with play beginning at 5:30 p.m. followed by the Cardinal men at 7:30 p.m.  Games are played at the Beck Gymnasium on the Wallace Drive Campus.  For more information about Cardinal Athletics, visit [gocardinals.gadsdenstate.edu/]gocardinals.gadsdenstate.edu.


Gadsden State Cherokee to host FAFSA Assistance Event  

Centre, Ala.— A FAFSA assistance event for parents of seniors attending high schools in Cherokee County will be held at Gadsden State Cherokee Feb. 5 from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Academic Building.  The campus is located at 801 Cedar Bluff Road in Centre.  Gadsden State representatives will be on-site to offer assistance. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid form is used by colleges to determine how much financial aid students are eligible to receive, which could include grants, scholarships and work-study funds. Gadsden State to celebrate Homecoming 2024 “Feels Like Home”

Gadsden, Ala.— Gadsden State Community College’s Student Life, Student Government Association, faculty, staff and students will begin the Homecoming 2024 celebration “Feels Like Home” with Spirit Week events Feb. 5-8. A Spirit Week parade will be held each day at the Cardinal Café beginning at noon for those dressed in the daily theme. Parade participants dressed in the daily theme attire will be entered in daily drawings for prizes. 

Homecoming will be celebrated Feb. 12 as the Cardinals face the Lawson State Cougars. Everyone is invited to join the celebration and show their Cardinal spirit. The Tailgate Party begins at 3 p.m. at Beck Conference Center with games, hot dogs, nachos, drinks and other refreshments.  The Lady Cardinals will face the Lady Cougars of Lawson State Community College at 5:30 p.m. with the men’s game set to begin at 7:30 p.m. The homecoming court and crowning of the 2024 Homecoming King and Queen will take place during halftime of the Lady Cardinals game.  All events will be on the Wallace Drive Campus.


Gadsden State to host wellness fairs

Anniston, Ala.— Gadsden State Community College is hosting “Leap into Wellness: Whole Person Wellness Fair” at two campus locations. The wellness fairs will be from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Feb. 27 at the Ayers Campus Cheaha Center and Feb. 28 in Allen Hall on the Wallace Drive Campus. Various vendors will be present with information related to all aspects of health care. Whole person health involves looking at the whole person and focuses on restoring health, promoting resilience and preventing diseases across a lifespan.  The wellness fairs are free and sponsored by the Advising and Retention Center.
