Workshops offered at Gadsden State to assist with FAFSA completion

Gadsden, Ala. — Gadsden State Community College’s Financial Aid Department is offering proactive measures for the 2024-25 academic year to support students amidst the FAFSA Simplification Act. The act will expand the Federal Pell Grant to more students and will link eligibility to family size and the federal poverty level.

In response to the changes that are a result of the act, the College has expanded verification services and introduced multiple FAFSA completion sessions, ensuring timely disbursement of Pell Grants and other vital aid.

“These enhancements demonstrate Gadsden State's unwavering commitment to student success and accessibility,” said Ian Freyberg, financial aid director. “With streamlined processes and dedicated support, Gadsden State remains steadfast in its mission to empower students to achieve their educational goals.”

To provide additional assistance, FAFSA Workshops are being held at the One Stop Center on the East Broad Campus. Students needing further support are encouraged to attend. The workshops will be from 4 to 6 p.m. April 30 and May 7 and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 3. All students, new or returning, are welcome.
